Healthcare Executives…Have Nothing More to Learn

A high official in a leading healthcare executive association told us recently that his members did not need to know more about the subject of our documentary or its book. “Too many quotes from doctors, nurses, and administrators” he said dismissing the book. “The documentary dwells on problems in hospitals.” He said his members know all they need to know about Baldrige National Quality Award winners in health care, the Pittsburgh hospitals pursuing perfect patient care and besides, his association offers training sessions in lean thinking.

He was the second officer of a major healthcare professional association to dismiss the documentary because it mentioned problems in hospitals and that turns everyone off.

Why were we surprised? As the teacher said, if you can’t admit there’s a problem or identify it, you can’t solve it.
